Thank you, whoever you are...

Tonight as we were going about our nightly rituals we heard the door bell ring. Tommy went and answered it. He came into our room, chocked up, and asked me to come the door. As I looked down at the entry way of our front door tears immediately came into my eyes. There were at least 10 bags full of groceries. Whoever brought them had left before we could even thank them. So, whoever you are, we are humbled by your act of thoughtfulness and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We will never forget your generosity and your example. We promise that when we obtain employment we will pass it on!!!

Be Prepared and Ye Shall Not Fear

This past Friday Tom got called into his boss's office and was told that on Monday there will be lay offs and to be prepared. All weekend long we were wondering if Tommy's job was a thing of the past. Sure enough come Monday morning Tom got THE BOOT! However, regardless of being unemployed for the moment we are not scared of the future that lies ahead of us as we have prepared for an event like this. We have money set aside for emergencies, food storage, and a great family and wonderful friends that have offered tremendous support. The words Be Prepared and Ye Shall Not Fear are truly prophetic! I do not worry about the future, the unknown is scarey, but the new opportunity the lies ahead of us is exciting. I have no doubt that listening to the prophets counsel of paying tithing, setting aside food and extra funds, and avoiding debt will give us a sense of peace during shakey times. I just know that Heavenly Father has something better for us that we have no idea about right now. He has taken care of us and watched over us in the past and I have no doubt that He will watch over us in the future. The second verse of Be Still, My Soul applies perfectly to our situation at this time...

Be still, my soul: Thy God doth undertake
To guide the future as he has the past
Thy hope, thy confidence let nothing shake;
All now mysterious shall be bright at last.
Be still, my soul: The waves and winds still know
His voice who ruled them while he dwelt below.

Sweet Spiritual Thoughts

This Wednesday I was at a presidency meeting and we were discussing how the adversary is working really hard to break us down especially mentally during these last days. I know that when I am down I love to read spiritual thoughts or stories of those that have been through hard times and made it through with flying colors. I started a blog called the Sweet Spiritual Thoughts that will have stories and sweet thoughts. So if anyone has any thoughts or stories to share please let me know. I would love to post them!!!

Dancing Queen

Last night Katie had her first dance recital. It was the cutest thing ever! She knew all of her moves and did great!!! She was so serious while dancing as she was concentrating so hard on her little moves. I was so proud of her. She said that being on stage felt like heaven. I think we have a future performer on our hands.

Also, this Sunday Katie was watching the Joseph Smith movie that was recently sent with the Ensign. When it was finished and the music was playing she came up to me and said..."Mom, the movie that I just watched, I know is true. I know that Joseph Smith is true." I loved hearing Katie's first little testimony. I am so amazed at how our children's little spirits are so mature. I have much to learn from my little daughter's faith.

Congrats Graduate!!

This Wednesday Katie graduated from Chris' Creative Corner Preschool. She and her little school friends sang songs and then they were given little diplomas. It's amazing how much she has learned over the past two years. It just so happens that my mom was also her preschool teacher. Katie had so much fun being taught by Grandma Lyle :)

They're BACK!

That's right, The New Kids On The Block are back. I watched them perform live this morning on the Today show. In fact, there were two ladies that camped out for 48 hours to hear their favorite band. I question their sanity! But seriously now, I am not ashamed to admit that I was a fan. I used to watch their videos at my friends house and of course I had my favorite New Kid. Their return brings me back to 1990 all over again!

Yes Sir!

The other day Tommy was listening to the Old Testament on his Ipod. When he got home the reader was just starting to read the 10 commandments. Katie put on the Ipod ear plugs and began to listen. All of the sudden we hear "yes sir, okay sir". We were like, what??! She was saying "yes sir, okay sir" as if she were responding to the reader during the 10 commandments. She was saying, "Yes sir, I will not steal". We decided that if we want her to obey from now on we would record our voice, put it on the Ipod, and have her listen!
