This week has been an interesting one. Tommy was called by a guy in Utah to come out to interview in American Fork. So our fabulous friends the Bullard's gave us a buddy pass and on Wednesday afternoon he flew to Utah. He thought the interview went really well with the owner of the firm and was excited about the possible position. Of course, what would our lives be like without a little bit of drama! Tommy was suppose to leave Utah on Thursday. Since he had the buddy pass and could only fly standby he got bumped off the flight due to a cancellation of an earlier flight (long story). He was then scheduled to fly the 5:45am flight for Friday morning and asked the hotel to give him a wakeup call the next morning. You guessed it, they forgot to call him and Tom woke up just as the plane was suppose to take off. He finally got on the 12:15pm flight Friday afternoon and arrived home safetly.
That is not the end of the story!!! It only gets longer....
The whole week I was very emotional thinking that we were going to have to pack up and move. Really we were pretty convinced that we were moving. What we were going to do with our house? Would the firm pay to have us move up to Utah? There were so many questions and it felt like we had no answers!! When Tom finally returned on Friday he received an email from his potential boss. The guy offered him an insulting salary, no money to pay for the move, and all sorts of sneaky little clauses within the contract to keep him there for a year. If he were to quit before the year ends he would have had to pay money to the firm. If I were to write more on that this it would be a forever long post. I did not like the guy straight off as he refused to pay to even fly him out for the interview and would not conduct a phone interview. Tommy of course was going to call and negotiate his salary as it was such a terrible offer!
I had to get out and feel a little bit of peace so Saturday morning I went to the temple. The whole time I was thinking that we could not move as the offer was horrible. As for trying to get answers as to whether we should move and what would we do with the house...I was so confused...and did not get an answer but rather a stupor of thought. When I got home Tom went to the temple. Guess what, yet again the stupor of thought!! Yeah, we received the same answer! We didn't tell each other what our answers were until after we both went to the temple and really thought and prayed more about this move.
This story has gone on forever!! The end really is this...we are NOT moving. In the meantime, Tommy will find something to pay the bills until he can get his residential business off the ground. He will then get his commercial license. As for moving...as of now the answer is that WE ARE NOT MOVING! What a relief!
I know that at least this small part of our current trial is over. I am not sure if Heavenly Father just wanted to test our faith and commitment to following His will. I am sure that we are being watched over and we feel blessed during this crazy time! We are still trying to figure out what we are going to do exactly for a job. I am certain that as we pray to know the Lord's will for us and pray for way in which we can build up the Kingdom of God that we will continue to be blessed!!
We also want to thank everyone for the endless calls, emails, and comments supporting our family. We have been humbled to know that so many people care about us. Without such support I know we could not have made it through this week. Thank you!!
