Yesterday started off calm and nice. We went over to our old neighborhood while Tom was working at his sister's house. Kellen and I went and played at a friend's house for a while. When we had to leave my friend walked us out and was talking to us for a little while. Kellen was playing in the car with my keys, purse, and everything else we brought over. We said our goodbyes, I shut the door, started to walk over to the other side of the car to get Kellen in his car seat and I heard "click" the car was locked! Kellen had locked himself in the car!! At first we thought it would be easy to get him to unlock the door. NOPE! He was not understanding what we were talking about. After two minutes of trying this I had to call the Gilbert Fire Department to come unlock the door. This all went down at noon so he was getting hot and red in the car. The fire department arrived a minute to two minutes later. Not only did the fire department come but also the police and an ambulence. I was really grateful for all of their attention but really embarassed and felt like a really bad mom! The fireman tried for a minute or two to get the door open with no avail. Finally, I had to make the decision to break the window. The next thing I saw was a fireman with a helmet on, safety goggles, and a large yellow pick ax breaking the window in the back seat of the driver's side. It totally shocked Kellen who now was getting very upset seeing several large men trying to open the doors. Not to mention he was very sweaty and hot! Once the window was broken Kellen climbed to the backseat where the fireman pulled him out through the broken glass and handed him to me. Luckily, my friend Jen was taking action photos the whole time and now we have photos memories of this whole ordeal. The last time Kellen was locked in the car it was my fault and it was in January. This time it was his fault and it was dang hot. I suppose I am going to have to get a magnet key for the bottom of my car so we won't have a third time!!! After they made sure Kellen was okay they vacuumed all the glass from my car which was great! Then Kellen was made an honorary fireman and presented with a little fireman hat. Jen's husband Cody was so nice and took cardboard and filled in the large gap in the side of the car. Thanks Cody! Once again, kudos to the Gilbert Fire Department for resucing my son from the car.
Now Kellen talks about the firemen who broke the window and took him out of the car. It's kinda cute. For the first little while he didn't want to get in the car because he thought it was going to be super hot. We had to turn on the AC full blast and let him feel the air before he would even sit down. We will now be having a family lesson, perhaps even a Family Home Evening, on unlocking the car door. Ah, memories!
Here I am trying to get Kellen to unlock the door and he is just playing around. At this point the car was not hot and he thought it was kinda funny. Not funny to mom!!

The firemen just arrived and are searching for the best and fastest tools to use to get Kellen out of the car.

Kellen is now scared because of all of the people and doesn't understand why he cannot get out. This picture makes me really sad. Poor guy!

The fire truck. After Kellen was taken out and had a drink of nice cold water he noticed how cool the fire truck was. Personally, I would have preferred to see it somewhere else like at a Town of Gilbert fair, but whatever.

Here the fireman is putting on his safety gear to break the window. The two little heads behind him is a police officer and his ride along buddy. I am sure they thought I was a real dork!

He's out of the car!!! Yeah!!! Notice he's a little red. He wasn't too upset at that point. However, what you can't see is me crying because I was in such a panic!!

The fireman are getting rid of all the glass from the window.

Cody put a cardboard box to cover the whole and marked it "Tom's Custom Windows". I thought it was pretty funny.

Our window once again.
