One crazy week!

This has been one crazy week. You would think we would have tons of time with Tom being out of work but really it's been rather busy.

Tom update: Tom has sent resumes to different firms all over the country. Of course, they are all on a hiring freeze. Why do they post the jobs then?? He has sent his resume to several civilian military Landscape Architecture positions and hasn't heard back yet. What is our plan you ask?? Get ready, sit down, cause here it comes. First off, remember that adventure resolutation I was talking about? Yeah, good thing that was my resolution or this career choice would harder for me to swallow. He is going to join the Air Force. They are looking for people that work in his field. He would be doing Landscape Architecture (but they call it Environmental Engineering, whatever!) He would also be in charge of many big money projects and getting a lot more supervisor/managerial type experience. Pretty crazy, huh? Tom still has to take a test and then have the Board approve him for officer training in August.

This is Saturday we also had the opportunity to go see the Draper Temple open house. It was really pretty! At the beginning of the tour they ask that everyone remains quiet throughout the tour and to turn all cell phones. So of course, Tom's phone rings just as we get to the front door of the temple. Oops! Then Kellen won't stop talking in a loud voice! Good thing he's only two. He has a good excuse. He's still not sure of his volume level. The real highlight for Katie and Kellen were the cookies after the tour. I guess they will appreciate it more when they get older.

Kellen update: Kellen is out of control! He is such a sweet boy but a huge mess! Just last night he poured out a huge container of carpet powder all over the carpet just before Tom's cousins came over for dinner. Our house smells super fresh. Then he found a stick of butter and decided to make it his play toy. He then took the dog food and poured it out everywhere. This also took place while our company was over. Oh, and then Katie biffed it and knocked over the dog water. Not Kellen's fault but it added to the craziness! Kellen also decided that his days of naps are over. He refuses to sleep at all during the day. Dang it!

Katie update: Katie is doing awesome in school. Her teacher is the best and they do the coolest little projects. Today she has to wear red to celebrate Chinese New Year. Last week she did a report and diarama of a polar bear.

So there you have it. Our latest updates. Please keep us in your prayers!!

New Adventures in Potty Training!

Ah, the joys of potty training. We decided that Kellen could start just sitting on the potty to get used to the idea of being potty trained. I would say that step is an adventure, right?! He loves to sit on the potty and then get potty treats. The only bad thing is that now he loves to hang out nude. Katie only took a week to potty train but I have a feeling that Kellen will take a lot longer. Wish us luck!!

2009 New Years Resolution

I really wasn't planning on making any resolutions this year because I really have no idea where will be in the next month let alone the year. So here's to letting go of my "Debbie Downer" attitude and onto making a resolution. I am getting tired of waiting for life to hand me an adventure so instead I am going to make my own adventures each new day. So there we go, take life by the hand, and have fun! I am not sure what will happen with Tom's job but I do know this whatever it is it will be fun and an adventure! Yeah for that! Come what may and LOVE IT! If anyone would like to join me, do it! It's always fun to have an adventure with friends. Happy adventures everyone:)

Oh, and this was going to be our Christmas card this year. Sorry to post it late but better late then never right?!

I married Handy Manny

That's right I married Handy Manny. Who knew! Since we are unemployed at the moment we have tried to do things in a more creative way, such as doing as much as we can by ourselves. The other day our dryer broke and then the DVD player yesterday. Well, today Tom found out why the dryer broke and fixed it. Then he was on a roll and fixed the DVD player too. Sa-weet! Now we don't have to watch movies on our laptop only and our clothes no longer have to hang all over my room in order to dry(I am more grateful for this one)! Yeah, we no longer have to iron our hard and stiff jeans anymore!!:) I am so grateful for the small in things life such as working appliances and electronic devices and ESPECIALLY my own little "Handy Manny", Tom.

Happy New Year and Happy New Callings

Happy New Year everyone! I was asleep when the New Year rolled around. Aren't I so exciting. Actually, I was awake for the NY celebration so I think that counts!? So to go along with our new we received new callings. Yeah! Tommy was called to be the 10 year primary teacher~I think they still call them Valiants. I was called to be the Sunbeam teacher. How fun is that! I cannot wait to teach a class full of little people that are so eager to share their little stories. Perhaps I might even hear some fun stories that their moms and/or dads wish they would not share:) I hope everyone had a great New Years!
