Katie's Performance

This year the first graders at Val Vista Lakes Elementary performed the cutest little play! It was called "Mice From Outerspace." Katie was an earth mouse. They all did so well!!

Reverse Zoo and Nephi

For some crazy reason Kellen and Katie like to play inside a once used rabbit cage. For those thinking, ew!, the cage is cleaned and not being used at the moment. Anyway, the other day I found Kellen sitting in the rabbit cage and the dogs were looking at him. Hence, a reverse zoo. Get it, n,ow the animals were watching the child in the cage, rather than visa versa. Perhaps it's funny to me now because I am really tired? So, if you don't think it's funny just read this post at around 1:00 a.m. and you will laugh, I promise!

Sometimes I feel sorry for Kellen because he only has an older sister and is surrounded by girly things. So, of course when he finds a headband he has to put it on, as if it is normal for a boy to wear those type of things. Anyway, Kellen put on the headband and then said, "Look mom, I look like Nephi!" Yeah!!! Now, here are the two things that went through my mind after his sweet little comment. The first: YES! He is listening during scripture time. He knows Nephi's name!!! Then the chorus of Hallelujah was also running through my mind at the same time. The second: YES! Kellen is not wearing the headband like a girl!! Once again, the Hallelujah chorus!!

Katie lost a tooth!!!

Tonight while eating dinner, Katie lost her first tooth! She thought at first it was bleeding and didn't realize that it was actually out of her mouth and on her plate. Good thing we noticed right away. She (and I) were so excited. She went around the table showing each and every person the gaping hole in her mouth. She went to go look in the mirror and check it out and we could hear a lot giggling and excitement from the bathroom. Yeah, Katie!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, and not to mention, yeah for the tooth fairy and the dollar she left for Katie!!

Sister and brotherly love. I am trying to catch it on film so I can show it to them later in life when they are in an argument.

Kellen posing for a picture.

Katie's latest and greatest trick. Thank you Eli Schmidt for teaching her to hang up side down from the bar:)

Katie showing off the hole in her mouth and her trick on the fireman pole.

What have I been up to?

For the past few weeks I have been working on my friend Lacey's baby bedding. Is was fun to create something from just a few yards of fabric.

When a door is shut, a window is left wide open!

This morning, after much prayer and fasting, we found a fantastic renter! Not only is she fabulous but she is our neighbor's aunt. Although our life is not extremely easy right now, our eyes have been opened to see the abundant amount of blessings that have poured upon our little family. So, the worry is now over and we can breathe for just a minute.

I know the old saying is cliche, "When door is closed, a window is always opened." Well, in our case, a door has been shut, but there a billion windows being opened for our family. Hopefully my use of the metaphor has not been lost in translation!
