Kellen vs. a bad guy

Lately, Kellen has been telling me that if a bad guy came into our house that he would fight them with a knife. He even showed me which knife he would use. I think this came after he and a friend were discussing how to fight a bad and win.

Last night this is what Kellen said in a prayer:

Kellen: Please bless that a bad guy will come to my house so I can fight him.

What we we doing? Our eyes were wide open and we were looking at each other and trying not to laugh.

I am glad that Kellen is so ready and prepared to fight for his family. I can do with out the bad guy coming over though!

17 Miracles

Yesterday our family watched 17 Miracles before church. That movie gets me every time. Yes, I cry during the entire movie, intermittently of course. After the movie we watched the making of 17 Miracles. Something the director said struck me. He said that there will be people that only see maybe four miracles throughout the whole movie. There will be other people that see more than 20 miracles in the movie. Of course I got to thinking, am I the person that only sees four miracles or the person that sees over 20 miracles? Honestly, it depends on the day really.

My new challenge: To the person that sees over 20 miracles, even if they are small, but be grateful for every miracle that happens in my life!

NAU

Okay, this picture is hugh. Oops! Oh well, what can ya do. On Friday afternoon, I was called by the receptionist at Mesa Community College. She told me that I was accepted into the NAU/MCC nursing program and the deadline to accept the admission was that afternoon. I was shocked for two reasons 1) I didn't think I would get in. 2) I didn't get the admission email and I almost missed out on the opportunity.

I got my acceptance letter into the NAU office real fast and officially became a student in the MCC/NAU nursing program. Of course I was super excited at first, now I am really, really scared. This is going to be a huge undertaking. Sometimes I wonder if I am up to this challenge. However, many people have reminded me to take it one day at a time. You cannot eat an elephant at one time, but only one bite at a time.

P.S. We are not moving to Flagstaff. NAU has a campus down here in the valley.

Bed time conversations

This week Tom and I have been "off line". We are not watching TV or doing too much on the internet. Tom thinks I am kinda funny for getting on the computer to tell people we are offline. No, I just had to write down these fun little conversations before I forgot. Tonight I took more time to lay by Katie and Kellen, something I should do a lot more often.

Conversation with Katie:
Katie said at dinner time that she said she wasn't sure if Heavenly Father and Jesus were real. We talked about how we all question their existence once in a while. She and I had a little talk about how the only way to know for sure is to pray about it. She said it worked. Good.

Trevor: not a "school girl" crush, the class bully. She wanted to know how to deal with a bully. He really is a mean little kid and pushes everyone around. I told her to ignore him but that I had no problem with her sticking up for herself. Little does he know, Katie is a scrapper and is a green belt with white stripe in karate. I was about to tell her to just one day misuse her karate and chop Trevor in the leg or something. I refrained.

Conversation with Kellen:

We were just laying there silently and then Kellen told me he had something really important to tell me.

me: I am listening
Kellen: I really like my name.
me: good! I wanted a really cool name for a really handsome little boy.
Kellen: (laugh). You know that boy that lives by Reaghan named Kellen?
me: Yep. In fact, I loved his name so much that we named you Kellen after him.
Kellen: Oh, that's cool!!

silence....

Kellen: Mom, you know that is really hard to hug a dog.
me: (laugh!) True.
Kellen: I tried to give Darcy (my sister's dog) a hug and he was too squirmy. He didn't want my hug.
me: yeah, some dogs don't like hugs.
Kellen: yeah.

Diamond Backs Fan Fest & The Science Center

This past weekend we went to the Diamond Backs Fan Fest and then walked over to the AZ Science Center. It was such a great day and all free. Yay!!! We love FREE!!!

Who knew Mickey Mouse would waiting for us at the ballpark.
Look at the amount of people! This was at the beginning of the fan fest. There were a lot more people when we left.
The kids and Baxter. Too cute!

There were a couple of slides and toys for the kids to play on. Here they are sliding down the sharks mouth.
If you look closely at Katie's right hand ring finger you will see that she is wearing a world series championship ring. It was so heavy! Ken Kendrick (something like that) was signing autographs and letting people try on the ring for fun.

Here comes Katie!
As we were walking from the ball park to the Science Center we stopped at the Rosson house. Someday I am going to take a tour of the inside. Anyway, we made Valentines cards and had free cup cakes to celebrate Arizona's birthday.

Kellen built a lovely house.

Katie built an awesome tower.

I think Kellen is conducting electricity here.

We got to play a large piano. I felt like we were in the movie BIG for just a minute. Tom played a beautiful rendition of Chop Sticks. I tried to play heart and soul but the kids kept interrupting my song.

Katie's hair for Valentines Day. She wanted at least four hearts in her hair. Well, here ya go, four hearts!
One night Katie and Kellen slept in a box. Here they are enjoying breakfast in the box.

The box. They are in there sleeping. Looks comfy, right?!

We recently went to the zoo and I forgot to put them on the blog. Oops! Oh, how do you like the double pictures? I will take one off at some point. I am too lazy to mess with it right now. It is not erasing easily right now. Go figure.

Can you see the elephant?

Kellen is practicing his cow milking skills.

Our friend Tallie came to the zoo with us. We all had a great time.

This is Katie's old piano teacher. Katie played The Stallion during her recital. She rocked it!

No post would be complete without cousin Brielle. Here is one of her newborn shots. She looks so peaceful and happy. Too bad we kept messing with her and waking her up.

Harry Potter Wanna-be

The other day Kellen scratched his head a couple of times at preschool. Apparently he did this on purpose so that he could have a scar like Harry Potter. After telling him not to do that anymore his sister drew a scar on his face with lipstick. I wish it would've stopped there... Kellen thought it would be fun to jump on the couch with his new scar. Well, the new lipstick scar connected with the new pillow I just sewed and left a lovely mark. Why do I try to have nice things in the house? I love Kellen's little personality but not the lipstick marks he leaves upon the new couch pillow.

Girl Scout Cookie Thief

The other night we finally tracked down a girl scout and bought some thin mints. Thin mints in our family are like gold and highly sought after! We wait all year long to eat these delicious morsels! That night we decided to let the kids watch a show in our bed. Tom left later that night to attend band practice. During commercial Katie asked, "Hey guys, have you heard me chewing during the show?" Kellen and I both responded "No." Then Katie told us how she had been lying next to us the whole time eating cookies. This is what she said, "Well guys, I brought in a sleeve of thin mint cookies and have been eating them this whole time." My response, "WHAT!" I could not believe that my honest, sweet little girl had been eating our delicious cookies this whole time without offering some to us. We had a very brief chat about being honest. Then we all ate another cookie and continued watching the show. Now Katie is lovingly known as the Girl Scout Cookie Thief!
