in the nude! We were at lunch today and Kellen came to the table buck naked. I didn't have the energy to fight with him but I did make him say the prayer. He actually participated too. What a memory~a naked prayer!
Last week Katie's kindergarten class had an unusual pet show. She and all her class mates made a pet that would considered unusual. Katie made a Kangaroo. She was so proud of it! Then she and her class entertained us parents with some songs. She is now on break for three weeks. She is in year round school and has 10 weeks on and 3 weeks off. Her teacher is great and she is progressing faster now then she was in her class in AZ.
Not only did we have an unusual pet this past week but we also had our first house guests! We were so lucky to have the Schmidt family come and join us while they were here for Jill's brother's wedding. Katie had so much fun with her little friends. Here are some highlights of the weekend.
Making cookies is our little tradition. We used to do it everytime Amelia and Eli would come over when Jill was working at ASU. I know that was a long time ago but the kids still remember. Of course, we have to uphold tradition!
Amelia taught Eli and Katie dance lessons while Jill and Mike were at breakfast with an old friend. It was funny how serious they all were during Amelia's dance lessons!
Amelia was singing "Castle In A Cloud" from Les Mes. She was going over it with Jill before singing it for her uncle and fiance during their rehersal dinner.
Katie and Amelia set up a bed in the hallway for the last night that they were here. They actually stayed and slept the whole night through in the hallway!
Best Friends forever!
Hopefully those pictures inspire you all to come and visit. We miss you all!
We woke up to snow!!! Last night Tom came in and said it was snowing. Katie thought it was Christmas when she came into our room. So of course the kids had to go out and see first hand the snow in their pj's. I accompanied them in my robe and ran into my neighbor.
We went to church at 9am and when we came out at noon the snow was all gone. Katie was so excited about the snow and was so disappointed when it was all gone. So we took a drive up into the mountains about 20 minutes away and found the perfect place with lots of snow. The kids loved the snow! Cassie, our dog, found it to be rather fun as well. Toward the end Cassie had little blobs of snow all over her fur. She spent the rest of the time in the car warming up.
As we were playing we saw Katie running across the snow and yelling "I am so grateful for snow!" It was so funny!!
Kellen then decided that it would be fun to throw his glove into the stream. Tommy had to get on a rock in the stream and the fish the glove out from under a little bridge with a long stick. Now to think of it it would have made for a really great picture. What kind of photographer am I missing out on a great moment. I was more worried about retrieving the only glove the Kellen owns.
When we were driving home we saw the new Draper Temple. It was so pretty! The houses all around it were huge! In fact, the picture below shows a picture of a 23,000 sq foot mansion. In fact, if you are in the market for a giantic house it is in foreclosure! So have at it!
Last but not least, this weekend we also celebrated Kellen's 2nd birthday! Snow and a birthday all in one weekend what could be better:). Kellen actually gave me an interesting present on his birthday by pooping all over his room carpet all while the Direct TV guy was here. I guess Kellen is just a typical two year old little boy. He is all over the place and is extremely busy. We love our little guy and hope he will continue to grow and flourish with such vigor!!
We are finally here! We left on Tuesday morning at 6:30am and got to St. George at about 5pm. In the middle we dropped my mom off at the Las Vegas airport as she drove with us to Vegas from Phx. We also played for about an hour and a half at a park in Vegas. The kids were so good for the trip! Katie just started school today and said she met a new friend nameds Jordan. I wasn't worried at all about Katie's ability to make a new friend the first day of school. That's just how she is. All in all we are happy to be back as a family. It took what felt like an eternity! So now I am spending most of my days unpacking and putting everything away. The townhouse that we are renting has great storage compared to our last house so it's kinda fun! We also have a basement (which is a disaster right now with boxes) that is going to be the playroom. Katie has already been busy making her own little princess play area. We even bought a little rug for her area from IKEA. We miss everyone already and hope that our little adventure will be fun and that we can return to AZ soon.

Be quick to listen, and slow to judge.

Those who feel that prayer might denote a physical or intellectual weakness should remember that a man never stands taller than when he is upon his knees.

12-25-2007 Tom: Katie it's time to go to bed. You may not read anymore.
Katie: Dad, I am just trying to have fun!!
12-27-2007 Katie singing to We Wish You A Merry Christmas: Good tidings we bring....with a new trampoline.
1-15-2008 Today Katie found a bruise on her little knee. She then told me that when we got home from the mall that she would take and a nap and I would serve her. Um, I think that we have been watching far too many princess movies!
1-25-2008 Katie was really mad the other day and was raising her voice to us. She then said "You guys are hilarious!" We need to teach her the meaning of the word hilarious!
8-20-08 Katie told me today that her talents are climbing, climbing trees, and making noises!
8-29-08 Today I was looking for a Washington Mutual bank to set up new accounts as we are moving and for some reason BofA does not exist in Utah. As we were driving Katie said, "It's okay, mom. Follow your own path and you will find it." She almost sounded like Grandmother Willow off of Pocahontas!
9-15-08 The other day Katie came up to me and said "Mom, did you know that my two little hands (shows me her hands) can make a big difference. That's what Noggin told me". Noggin (for those who don't know) is like a Disney Channel with cartoons running 24/7.
10-09-08 It was way past Katie's bedtime and we forgot to have her brush her teeth. Oops! She was good enough to come in and remind us. After a few minutes we yelled into her, "Katie, are you still brushing your teeth?" "Yep and my nose she yelled back. What!? We just let her basically brush her face with her toothbrush and then sent her to bed. We were too tired to argue with her that night.
2/22/09 This Sunday Katie was getting dressed for church. We noticed that a little dress purchased for her over about two years ago was finally getting too small. I told her that her dress was getting too short and that this Sunday was the last time she could wear it to church. She said, "Mom, that is fine. It is my destiny to grow bigger and the dress's destiny to stay the same."
4/19/2009 Today we pulled upto a stop light and in the lane next to us was a guy on a motorcycle. The guy was not wearing a helmet. Out of the blue Katie said, "That guy is asking to die". It took us a minute to understand what she was saying. Because the guy did not have a helmet on she thought he was asking to die. I guess she does listen to us when we talk.
5/2009 Every time we go the bank we always ask for suckers so the kids are happy about running errands. The other day, we went drive thru in the bank. As soon as the teller said, "May I help you?" Kellen yelled from the back seat, "May I have a sucker please!!!" It was so funny!!
6/18/2009 Today my mom took Kellen to JCPenneys. The lady was really nice and said goodbye to Kellen. Kellen then yelled, "Adios muchos!!!!" My mom said that the whole store could hear him. He was trying to say "Adios Muchachos."
6/19/2009 Tonight we went to Walmart to pick up some last minute things for Father's Day. Kellen was being a little naughty in the car on the way home. I told Kellen that he needed to be kind and stop talking in a mean voice. Of course the little stinker kept going. I told him that he was going to have a time-out. I told him that I was really sorry that he would be going to time-out. He then said, "Oh, it's okay, but don't let it happen again." What is up with that!! My kids are so sassy!
9/13/09 Today we were at church and before we go into Sacrament meeting Katie always gets a drink from the fountain. Today Katie was at the fountain and Kellen cut right infront of her. I was getting ready for Katie to throw a small fit about Kellen cutting, but instead she picked him up and put the water on for him. It was one of those moments that are so precious. I am so grateful for Katie and how loving she is to her brother.
11/2009 Lately, Kellen is really excited to say prayers. I am so happy that he likes to speak with Heavenly Father. The other night he did a prayer that I will never forget! He started like this:
Dear Heeeeaaaavenly Faaaaaaaaaather, (Think of Bob Dillan when you read this) Life is a hiiiighway. I want to driiiiiiive it alllllll niiiiiiight long!!! Thank you for Lightning McQueen, and for dad to get a job.
This kid is hilarious! It took four prayers for Kellen to actually say one that did not bounce off the ceiling.
11/2009 Katie and Kellen are really proud that they know the Walmart slogan. Whenever we get to Walmart, together they say "Live better. Save More. Walmart".
1/10 We were at church watching a little girl walk by us in Sacrament meeting. We would say "hi" quietly. Then Kellen told us that we do not talk to babies. We only talk to people that talk!
9/7/2010 Lately, Kellen has been telling Katie that he wants to marry her. Katie thinks that gross, as she should! Today, Kellen told her that he still wanted to get married but they weren't going to kiss. Katie made a funny face :)
2/2011 Kellen says mummies sneak into your house and steal all of your toilet paper. He says it's totally true.
