Last night Tom and I had to tell the vet to put out sweet little doggy to sleep. We believe that while going outside to go potty, she suffered a stroke. When Tom went out to get her, she was having a hard time breathing. The vet told us that she was suffering from severe blood clotting. We think that Cassie was a lot sicker than we originally thought. She was suffering from Cushing's Disease which causes problems with the adrenal glands atop the kidneys. We knew that she would pass within a couple of years, but not this soon.
Kellen stayed at home with my mom while I took Katie to meet Tom at the emergency animal hospital. After seeing her in the pet hospital, I knew that it was the right thing to do.
To let Cassie go was by far the hardest decision we had to make. As Cassie was put to sleep, we told her how much we loved her, pet her fur, and she went back to live with her Heavenly Father.
Some funny memories we have of Cassie:
-she loved to play fetch with rocks
-she could sit on her hind legs forever begging for food
-she was so patient!
-her tongue never went in her mouth, there was always a small portion hanging out
-she had one big eye, one smaller eye
-she loved to go on walks
-she would always come along for our errands
-she loved to sit in the trailer and go for bike rides
-she loved to cuddle and nuzzle her little nose into all the pillows
-she knew that we considered her one of the kids...she was our "sister pooch"
-she and my parent's dog were best buddies
-whenever she would come close to you she would sneeze.
-she had a billion nick names ex:Cassie Juneth, Cassie June, Cassandra, Cass, Ca, Cassica, love dog, pooch
-We would always sing this little song to her: "Cassica, Cassica, where are you? We love you!" As we laid some flowers on her grave, we sang that song to her.
Cassie, no matter how far away you are, you will always have a place in our hearts!!!!
