Thursday Morning Lesson

This morning, after I dropped Katie off at school, I went to go get gas next to a closed Hollywood Video store. As we rounded the corner to the gas station, we noticed a homeless man sitting at the video store in the shade. I drove next to him (he never once tried to get my attention to beg me for money) and offered him what money I did have (not much!) and we have a 2 second conversation. He was very tan, he only had one tooth, and had bright blue eyes.

Kellen was sitting in the back seat watching this all take place. As I drove away I was reminded of some things. First, he has a mother. I am sure she has passed away but she loves him and that she would want someone to take care of him and love him. If Kellen were ever in his situation I would want someone to take care of him too. Second, regardless of his situation, he is a son of our loving Heavenly Father. Even though the man is sitting in shade next to an abandoned store, Heavenly Father knows exactly where he is and wants him to be happy.

How grateful I am for the small lessons that I am taught on a daily basis and the little glimpses that my Father in Heaven gives to me of His love for us!

Pillow Pet

Katie got a Unicorn Pillow Pet for her birthday this year. Here is what I heard from the back seat (a convo about the pillow pet) as we were driving home.

Kellen: Hey Mom, did you know that Pillow pets are machine washable?

Me: Laughing!

Katie: Mom, you can just flip the flap and you can turn your unicorn into a pillow.

Me: Okay, the fact that you two can recite the infommerical means that you are watching too much TV!

Camping indoors.

The kids really wanted to set up the tent this weekend. Of course, it was way too hot outside SO we set up the tent in our family room. We had Scott, Shellie, and Di as our special guests. We all watched Willy Wonka and ate yummy popcorn. The kids love sleeping in the tent so much that they have been sleeping in it for the last three nights!

My new hobby

For years I have been asking for a long board. I have always thought they looked so fun. This year Tom got me my own board. Sometimes I take my board over to my parents house and I ride with my brother around neighborhood.

Don't be jealous of my awesome outfit! It was all I could find.

My little brother Scotty.

Hair styles and a lost tooth.

This week I was too lazy to cut Kellen's hair, so I buzzed it instead. He looks much older. My little man is growing up !

This summer Katie was dying to braid all her hair. So, we sat down and watched a movie one Sunday and I braided her hair. She kept it in for about a week. She looked really cute!

Katie is now missing her two front teeth!!! Katie, my love, you are still gorgeous, even without your two front teeth!!

Happy Birthday to Me!

This year I turned 30. Ouch, that is even hard to write. It seems so old to me. My fried Sarah and I have been friends since we were 12, are exactly a week apart in age, and she suggested that we do a double birthday party. It was so fun to have a birthday party with one of your oldest friends.

Father's Day 2010

This year Katie had the best idea for Father's Day...a human Jack-in-the Box. We went to Walmart and bought the supplies. When we got home Katie was in charge of the construction. She was so excited to surprise Tom. That morning Kellen was a turkey and shut his eyes the whole time.
