Melt my heart

Tonight I stood at Kellen's doorway while he was saying his prayers. He offered such a sweet little prayer. He was saying how grateful he was for everything he had. After he finished, I went in and told him how beautiful his prayer was. Katie came and we all had a huge together, then the ultimate....

Me: I love you guys so much

Katie: I love you more

Kellen: I love you the most

What a sweet moment!!

Flex!

Sometimes you just need to flex your muscles. It wouldn't be an awesome day if Kellen didn't take a minute to flex his muscles. He is such a strong manly man! Oh, and look closely at the pants he is wearing...they are on backwards. Kellen wears his pants like this all the time. He is trying to bring the Kris Kross style back.

Backyard dinner

Yesterday, Tom told me that he had a surprise for me when I get home. Such fun! I got home from studying and a baby shower to find that the dutch oven was out and he had all the ingredients for dutch oven potatoes and marshmallows for roasting. Oh, and I forgot that chicken was defrosting in the frig. What a guy!! The food was so yummy!!! I think next time we are going to try a cobbler. If you want an invite, let me know! Oh, and after we roasted marshmallows, we put some special coloring into the flames that my brother got us for x-mas. We had a turquoise fire. Pretty cool!

Here we are enjoying the weather and waiting for our food to cook.

Here is the dutch oven. I just had to take a picture of it before we put everything in it. It's amazing how great food tastes after sitting in it after some hot coals.

Preparing the pit for a nice warm fire.
Peeling potatoes for our yummy dutch oven potatoes.
Cooking chicken over hot coals. Boy was it tasty!

Katie's exciting month

This month Katie has been able to do some fun things.

First, she had a late night with her great friend Reaghan. We all went over to Aunt Shellie's house and had some pizza. Then Shellie and I did their nails and hair. Then we made cookies and watched the rest of a movie.

Second, Katie has a great love for art. Tom's best childhood friend stayed at our house while his band was in town to play a gig. He just happens to be the artist for Yo Gabba Gabba. The kids love that show! Katie got to sit down with Parker and draw some characters from the show. He also told us stories about the characters and how his initials just might be hidden in the logo. I will leave it up to you to find them.

Third, Katie got to take the day off of school to play with her wonderful friend Caitlin. Her family moved to Utah just after the school year ended. She was shocked when Caitlin showed up at our house to play. They had a great time! Katie misses Caitlin so much!

Kellen's self hair cut

I think that every child has to cut their own hair at least once in their life time. Just recently, Kellen took his turn. I was in my room and Tom was in the kitchen. Tom walked Kellen into my room and told Kellen to look down. There was a huge patch of hair gone! He looked like munk-hair all around and nothing in the middle. He told me that his hair looked like Grandpa Lyle's hair:) We sat Kellen down in the bathroom sink and started to buzz off his hair. He cut his hair shorter than the actual buzz cut from the clippers.

This is how long his hair was before his new buzz cut.

Why not just lick it?!

On Sunday, I was playing the piano in primary (as usual). All of the sudden the chorister called Kellen's name and asked him to turn around. Of course, upon hearing his name, I immediately looked over at him. I saw Kellen turned around, facing the class behind him, licking his chair! What the heck prompted him to do that?! He never ceases to surprise me with his weirdoness (new word, and I love it). Was I laughing behind the piano? Heck yes! However, now that I am taking microbiology, I am thinking about, and picturing the gram stain, of all the germs he just licked off the chair.

Full Moon & Scripture reading

Kellen thinks it's funny to make people laugh, who doesn't! I find this little trait of his wonderful EXCEPT when he tries to make people laugh in preschool and at church. Let me explain...

The other day Kellen wore some jeans that were a little too big. He kept pulling them up but he didn't act like they were bothering him. I guess I didn't think much of it. At preschool they were playing the game duck-duck-goose (only with dinosaur names) and, of course, Kellen's pants were kinda falling. He told me that he decided that instead of running around and pulling up his pants, he would simply pull down his pants and moon all of his preschool friends! They all got to see his red undies around his tiny little toosh. He thought he was the funniest guy! Good thing they just saw undies!

This past weekend Kellen was assigned a scripture to read to the primary. This week was also the 5th Sunday at church and for some reason junior and senior primary were combined. I play the piano in primary so Tom helped Kellen. Tom whispered a line in Kellen's ear to repeat and instead Kellen said this "And it came to pass, that my dog Cassie..." and continued to laugh and make funny faces. He started talking about our dog Cassie. I was dying! The entire primary presidency was laughing (thank goodness) along with the kids! Oh my, it took a minute to get everyone quiet again. I doubt they will asking Kellen to give a scripture anytime soon!!!!!
